PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ most recent sales success was announced by way of a press release shared by CH Kim, who serves as the CEO for PUBG Corp. and executive producer on the game. To give credit where it’s due, the executive acknowledged the fans, writing, “With over 30 million players globally across PC platforms and the Xbox Game Preview program, we owe the success we’ve experienced this year to the community, whose passion has inspired all of us here at PUBG Corp. to make the very best game we can.”

In addition to the announcement of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds selling upwards of 30 million units, Kim also noted a few things that will be coming up for the game, such as improvements to gunplay, sound, animations, network stability, and anti-cheating measures. Not to mention, there will also be some freebies making their way into the title, including the “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner” shirt, as pictured above.

Without a doubt, reaching 30 million units sold in less than a year–PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds entered Early Access in March 2017, to be specific–is a significant feat for any game, and it puts PUBG in a league with the likes of other major multiplayer titles such as Overwatch. After being on sale for just around 11 months, Blizzard’s team-based shooter wound up hitting 30 million players in April of this year. So, with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds now among such rarefied air, it will be interesting to see how the game evolves down the line.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now for PC and Xbox One.
