Killcams are a part of many multiplayer shooters. For example, many games in the Call of Duty series utilize the feature to allow players to see who eliminated them and in what way. Recently, fans of Apex Legends have said that a similar replay system would be a positive addition to the game.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as Kaythiest shared a potential idea for a new feature for Apex Legends. According to the Reddit user, the developers should consider adding a killcam. This feature would allow players to see how they died before returning to the lobby. Kaythiest even shared a screenshot from the first-person shooter Titanfall 2, revealing that a killcam feature was present in the 2016 title. As the previous game developed by Respawn, the Reddit user argued that the developers were already familiar with the concept.
In addition to suggesting the feature, Kaythiest asked the rest of the Apex Legends community on Reddit to voice their opinions on the subject. Unsurprisingly, many were quick to oblige. With over 8,300 upvotes in only a few hours, many players liked the idea. Among the arguments in favor of adding a killcam, one user believed that the feature would help identify and ban cheaters. “With a killcam I get some closure on if it’s me being an idiot or if someone is being sus,” they commented.
While numerous fans liked the feature, one user pointed out that Respawn had addressed this issue in the past. In May of this year, the design director at Respawn, Jason McCord, tweeted that killcams wouldn’t be seen because they give players “cheaty info.” Despite these comments from the developer, many fans still believed that the feature could work in-game. They argued that the replay should be available only after every squad member had been eliminated. In this way, no competitive edge could be gained, but players could still see how they died. Furthermore, others suggested that it should be skippable for those that don’t want to watch.
While fans acknowledged that incorporating a killcam into the game would be challenging, some noted that another battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone, already had the feature. It will be interesting to see if Respawn reconsiders adding killcams to the game following these recent requests from the community.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
