Meeks experienced back spasms on Oct. 9 and underwent further testing when the discomfort continued. Pistons medical personnel gave Meeks a CAT scan on Oct. 13 and discovered the stress reaction, a problem that must be re-evaluated at the end of his eight-week diagnosis.

Originally, the Pistons were worried about a knee injury to young guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who avoided a major knee injury when it was announced that he suffered no structural damage.

Meeks played in the Pistons’ first preseason game on Oct. 7 and posted 13 points and four rebounds.
