Jennings left Saturday night’s loss to the Bucks with a left leg injury after falling to the floor on a non-contact play. After the game, Detroit coach Stan Van Gundy spoke grimly about Jennings’ outlook.

“It doesn’t look good,” Van Gundy said. “It’s a major, major loss.”

Jennings returned to Detroit on Sunday for an MRI that revealed a torn Achilles in his left leg.

He later tweeted “6/9 months,” the likely timeframe for his recovery.

Jennings, 25, has been a key cog for the Pistons this season. It’s a huge loss for a team that had been playing well, winners in 12 of their last 16 games.

In his sixth season, Jennings has averaged 15.7 points and 6.7 assists per game.
